Houston Solar Co-op selects Icon Power to serve group
Houston, TX – The Houston Solar Co-op has selected Icon Power to install solar panels for the 195-member group. Co-op members selected Icon Power through a competitive bidding process over 12 other firms. The group will hold close to new members at the end of the month.
“Demand for solar and storage is going up in the Houston area, so it’s no surprise this is the largest Co-Op Solar United Neighbors has put together in the state of Texas, said Jordan Bastian, President of Sales at Icon Power. We are honored to be selected because we know how thoroughly the committee reviewed each bid. We look forward to expanding our local operations in Houston, and we are eager to help more people go solar by providing quality products and service.”
Solar United Neighbors expands access to solar by educating Texas residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar installations, and strengthening solar policies and its community of solar supporters.
“Big thanks to Mayor Turner and Solar United Neighbors,” said co-op and selection committee member, Tiffani Todd. “Through unbiased education, experience and membership leverage, SUN has helped make going solar attainable for us.”
Co-op members selected Icon for their panel and battery storage options, pricing, company size and experience.
“Houston is one of the most diversified and growing cities in the nation. It was important to the success of this co-op that a company’s offerings were appealing to as many Houstonians as possible in order to gain the broadest possible public support and participation,” explained another co-op member Lankston Dickson JR. “With the experience, selection and price points of Icon Power, I’m confident we succeeded to select a firm to serve the residents of our great city in this co-op.”
The co-op is open to new members until June 30. Houston residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at the co-op web page: www.solarunitedneighbors.org/Houston
The solar co-op is free to join and joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Icon Power will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, members can save on the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group members and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.
Solar United Neighbors supports solar co-ops across the country. These co-ops are a part of the organization’s mission to create a new energy system with rooftop solar as the cornerstone. Solar United Neighbors holds events and education programs to help people become informed solar consumers, maximize the value of their solar investment and advocate for fair solar policies.
