Montgomery County Solar and EV Charger Co-op

Maryland Residents may qualify for a $300 rebate for qualifying Level 2 smart chargers through PEPCO and Potomac Edison.

Solar Energy World’s upper tier Smart EV Charger option is eligible for either rebate.

In order to qualify, homeowner’s must:

• live in a single family home
• have secured home Wi-Fi
• Share charging data with your Utility
• Apply for rebate  (Potomac Edison – must be submitted within 30 days of a successful installation.)

Rebates are limited and are available while supplies last.

The committee of co-op members chose Solar Energy World over 6 other offers in a competitive biding process.

Co-op members selected Solar Energy World because of their competitive pricing, capacity to serve the group, quality and variety of equipment offerings.

The co-op is open to new members until August 31st. The solar co-op is free to join and joining is not a commitment to purchase panels.

Solar Energy World will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, members can save off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group members and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.

The 54-member Montgomery Solar & EV Charger Co-op  issued a request for proposals (RFP) from local solar installers. The group members created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. The co-op is sponsored by: Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection.

Bids are due Monday, June 22 at 5:00 p.m.

1. Preferred interest rates of 5%, which are below the offering of the lenders in the market.
2. Up to 100% project financing.
3. No prepayment penalties.
4. Two loan options:
5. Short term (12 to 18 month) – Loans to cover the 26% 2020 income tax credit-eligible portion of the project.  This loan has no current payments and is designed to be repaid in full after the homeowner obtains its tax benefit.
6. Long term, fixed rate (12 and 15 year) – Loan to cover up to 74% of the project costs.  This loan has level monthly payments for the term of the loan.
7. Not a mortgage or equity line so no additional debt on the property.
